The collision energy was almost completely absorbed within the engine compartment. In the occupant compartment, there were comparatively small deformations in the footwell area around both the driver's and the front passenger's side.
The right side lock of the front passenger's seat slide was released by the impact at the time of the collision. Because a body center side seat belt anchorage has been installed onto the seat, the dummy, along with the seat, moved considerably forward while facing left(Picture #1,#2). It is possible that the head and chest injury criteria for the front passenger's side dummy were low due to the increased movement of the dummy relative to the case that the right side lock of the seat slide was not released. |
